About The Gospel Plug
Ready and Willing.
I'm Matthias. Engineering Director by day, theology nerd by night, husband and dad of five always. Two dogs somewhere in the house.
I started The Gospel Plug to do serious Bible study work and put it in front of anyone who wants to dig into Scripture. My roots are in COGIC. My interests run across Pentecostal, Baptist, Methodist, and Presbyterian traditions. The Keller influence runs through everything here: the gospel is not just the entry point for the Christian life but the whole thing.
Based in Atlanta. Building in public.
Ready to hear it.
Willing to do something about it.
The Gospel Plug is my collection of curated and authored Bible study guides. Each study gathers Scripture references, study questions, and guide material organized by book and series.
It is for young folks growing in faith, and anyone else who can use it.
What shapes this work
Posture
Faith
Corrected by Scripture, not protected from it.
Relationships
Forgive, repent, confront, listen, and tell the truth.
Leadership
Carry responsibility without turning faith into a pose.
Voices that shaped this
Inspiration
These teachers shaped how I read Scripture and build studies.
Reformed / Pastoral
Timothy
Keller
I found Keller after years in church thinking I had grace figured out. He was the first person who made me sit down and ask whether I had ever actually received it or just agreed with it. His Jonah series is the reason this site exists.
Apologetics / Literature
C.S.
Lewis
Lewis was the first writer who made faith feel like something happening inside a real person rather than a set of positions to defend. I came to him skeptical and left with language for things I had felt but could not name. Doubt, longing, the ache that something is true even before you can prove it.
Reformed / Expository
John
Piper
I came to Piper in a season when I was drifting and needed someone to press hard. He does not let you stay comfortable or vague about what God is worth to you. I do not always reach for his language, but the seriousness behind it shaped how I approach every study I write.
COGIC / Prophetic
Gilbert E.
Patterson
I grew up hearing Bishop Patterson preach. He is the reason I believe the Word does not need to be dressed up to carry authority. What I took from him is not a style. It is a conviction: plain handling of Scripture is enough, and the person carrying it should act like it matters.
COGIC / Pastoral
Charles E.
Blake Sr.
Bishop Blake is the reason I care more about whether someone actually changes than whether they feel inspired in the moment. I did not fully appreciate what he modeled until I was older and understood what it costs to stay in that lane long term.
Pentecostal / Cultural
T.D.
Jakes
Jakes reached me in seasons I did not have clean language for. Identity, grief, starting over when you thought you were done starting over. He is the reason I believe serious theology and real pastoral care can occupy the same room. I needed someone who understood both, and he did.
Foundation / Family
William Sr.
& Ranetta
My parents are the reason I was in a church pew before I could read. They gave me diverse church experiences before I had language for what that meant, sat me through Bible studies I was too young to follow, and put handmade devotionals in my hands. I did not choose to love Scripture. They put it in front of me until I did. Everything built on this site traces back to what they laid down first.
